MEA Fundraising: 20 Runners in The London Landmarks Half Marathon | 19 December 2019

Tony Britton, Fundraising Manager, ME Association.

The team is locked down and ready to rumble!  All 20 of the places that we’ve bought in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on March 29 are now taken.

With each runner committed to raising at least £270 for the ME Association, the following team members will be joining 14,000 other runners at the starting line in Pall Mall – Buckingham Palace’s own broad, tree-lined front drive:

Sisters Izzy and Rosie Hoggmascall, both from London;  Beth Richmond from Southampton;  Alison Terrell, Leeds; Andrew Barlow, Chesterfield; regular MEA runner Anita Walton from Hinckley in Leicestershire; Jamie Fuller, Rugby, who will be supported by his sister Jennifer Lynch who had to drop out because of injury; Phil Ross, Chesterfield; Robert and Malcolm Russell from Surrey; Ryan Cairns, East Kilbride; Sarah Herd from Prestonpans, East Lothian; Scott Read, Lincoln; Stephen Gray, from Glasgow; Tim Hart from Rushden, East Northamptonshire; Alice Watts, Surbiton, Surrey; Juli Williams, Fareham, Hampshire; Vashti Rhodes, Towcester, Northamptonshire; John Milburn, York; and Christopher Morris, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Beth Richmond has made a really good start with her fundraising – sparked by concern for her 14-year-old godchild Evie, who is so ill with M.E. that she’s been unable to attend school for most of the year. Check out Beth’s JustGiving page and support her efforts in you are able.

“My goddaughter Evie has spent the whole of 2019 in bed, unable to leave her darkened room. Unable to walk unaided, talk in more than a whisper and light & sound are painful to her. Evie is 14.”

Beth Richmond.

Anita Walton is another front runner, and she says, “Please join me and be a part of this exciting time for research into this condition, a donation of any amount is a little closer to achieving the dream of 250,000 people and their carers and family.

“Instead of buying that take away coffee on the way to work today, or that take away from Greggs at lunch time, please donate that £5.00 or even two days of coffee and pie to the ME Association through my JustGiving page and in return I promise to run alongside the 13,999 other runners on 29th March 2020 in Central London, starting in Pall Mall!”

The first wave of runners will be let loose for this closed road event at 9.20am and then head towards Trafalgar Square and the rest of central London. Are all required to finish the race within four hours.

At the finishing line, they will be greeted by a banner-brandishing team from the ME Association who will be laying on refreshments.
